I went to Maier Plastics website and I saw they offer carbon fiber (white and black) colors. I emailed them and asked if they could do those colors for the 350X fenders. I also asked if they could do a red carbon fiber fender for the X. They said yes!!! But, they have a minimum order of 10 fenders per custom order.

Checkout the colors:

http://www.maier-mfg.com/color-chart.php

Im trying to gather enough people to commit to 10 complete sets of carbon fiber red fenders. Complete sets include rear, front, and scoops.

Holly smokes that will be sharp. It will be the same fender design they offer for the regular pattern right? Meaning the mud flap is incorporated into the design of the rear fender?

How many bills are they asking for?

Hey Dom.

Im not sure what the price will be. Im trying to find the email from Maier. I do know they said there is a minimum purchase before they even consider making custom plastic.

I might have to email them again.

I wish I knew I could sell them. I would invest in the minimum order myself!!!

Carbon Fiber looking fenders for the X would be freakin KILLER!!!!

The only thing they couldn't do is the headlight plastic. :(

Maybe one day......

wonder if 250r fenders would count for any of the minimum order?

Tell them you have the minimum order. I am sure we can find enough people if the price is right. I am trying to think how much I would be willing to spend on a set.

Hey PitB.

Unfortunately, that doesn't count. They require a minimum amount because it wouldn't be worth the labor to produce a one off set of fenders.

Im going to email them again and get some pricing. I will keep all of you posted.

Cool. I can see it now, these people are going to want like $600 in fenders. You will see me roll up to the spot with my trike on the trailer looking all sharpish. Then when it comes time to ride I'll take all the fenders off and put on my old shet. HA

beats busting them all to heck when u get a roll up on the ride

LOL!!! Dom.....you're going to think Im nutz. But, I have an extra set of fenders! I don't swap them for show and riding......yet. The extra set is OEM and are in exceptional shape. I wanted to get another set before all the OEMs are extinct.

A regular set of fenders (rear, front, and scoops) cost $340 from Maier. I would say its safe to say a custom set would go for $340-$440. Hopefully not much more...

Again, Im going to email them to find out. I think there's enough X owners in the world that would purchase them. If not, I got alot of riding to do to wear out all the extra sets that will be sitting in my garage!! LOL!!

Update:
I just emailed Maier. Now we play the waiting game. They are pretty quick to reply.

Maier got back to me. Here's the scoop on the poop:

"Custom colors that we do stock will have to be purchased in lots of 10 each. And it may take 3-4 months to produce the parts.

We do not have red carbon plastic, only black and white.

The headlight shell was to intricate for us to reproduce. For that reason, we cannot do so."

No mention of pricing. I think if there were more requests for red carbon fiber.....it just might happen. Please, feel free to email them and put your request in. I will definitely invest in 10 fenders if they make them in red carbon fiber. I don't buy their reason about the headlight shell. The fenders are more intricate to make. But, they are the boss. They own the molds. There was a guy on another forum from Australia that made the headlight shell. He was selling them on eBay for $65. They looked pretty SA WHEAT!!! And, he could paint them any color you wanted!!!

Yo PitB!!

First page, first post of this thread I have a link to Maier's website. They have a color chart you can view. You can also see the carbon fiber fenders for the TRX700X. They show the black ones. Pretty tight looking.

The 350X fenders only come in solid red, white, and black except for custom orders. They can make fenders in any color they offer as long as you agree to their terms (min 10 per order).

Im not sure they have an oversized tank for the ATC R (I saw on eBay they make the oversize for the 250R Quad). I didn't see them advertising the oversize tank for the X either. But I know they have them. You might have to contact them. I see you can buy them in black too!!!

If you are going to buy one I would look on eBay. They go for about $150.

There are OEM ones on eBay right now for a low price. Under $100.

You could also recondition yours by yourself. It take a lot of elbow grease but its feasible.

Big Bang Theory's on!!! Be back later!

GeoD

It was a rerun.

You might want to contact Clarke about the oversized tank. I know they sell them for the 350X but it wasn't advertise on their site.

Give them a yell.

pitbully
02-16-2009, 09:20 PM
ok email sent to them, thanks again

GeoD
02-16-2009, 09:45 PM
Yep. NP.

Remember, it never hurts to ask (email).

I think there's oversized tanks available for the R. They used to run them in the Baja race back in the day.

You might want to check IMS. That is the other plastic tank manufacturer.

GeoD
02-16-2009, 09:51 PM
Dude.

IMS has a 4gal tank for the 85-86 R!!!

What's the stock capacity? I never owned a R so I don't know.

pitbully
02-16-2009, 09:58 PM
2.6 gallon
same as 350x

GeoD

Here ya go!!

http://www.justgastanks.com/store/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=2_19_199&products_id=219

A bit more then the Clarke tank. But IMS is much better in quality. Plus you get almost twice the capacity!!

pitbully
02-17-2009, 08:43 PM
We only make a stock size tank

Thanks
